Nantucket Sound Research Strategy Workshop, March 2006
The MFP coordinated this workshop to begin developing a comprehensive
ecosystem cooperative research plan for Nantucket Sound. Approximately thirty
scientists and fishermen participated and focused on the disciplines of
oceanography, water quality and seafloor mapping. Potential research topics
were developed and project teams convened. The concept for a community-based
nutrient water quality project was developed at this workshop and the
resulting project was funded by the National Marine Fisheries Service.
