How to Participate
Fishermen can participate in collaborative research in a number of ways.
The foremost way is for a fisherman to bring forth his observations and ideas
and suggest a possible topic to research. The MFP can then help find
scientific partners and funding. In addition, a fisherman can be paid to
participate in focus group meetings and individual interviews with
researchers. He can also rent his vessel to be a research platform, which is
known as cooperative research. Ocean research is very varied and other
opportunities to participate are available.
To get involved contact the
MFP Collaborative Research Coordinator
and fill out the Vessel Specification Form.
