Goals and Objectives
Goals
- To improve the objective nature of fisheries research and business
decisions;
- To offer practical assistance in facilitating dialogue among gear
groups and fishery stake-holders;
- To promote research, education, and training within our communities so
as to: Facilitate collaborative research between fishermen and scientists;
- Advance the processing & marketing of local fish products;
- Improve marine safety;
- Encourage effective co-management of marine ecosystems;
- Promote the use of social, cultural, & economic data for holistic
management of New England marine resources.
Program Objectives
- To coordinate outreach & enrollment services for the Fishing
Partnership Health Plan for all fishing families;
- To provide a Collaborative Research Program to assist fishermen in
developing research proposals, establishing research partnerships, as well
as making available on-going project management services to fishermen and
fishing associations;
- To facilitate dialogue and consensus on various policy and management
issues
- To provide hands-on safety training for fishermen
